Knowledge Base Document
Applicability: Cranium, Synapse (core versions 0315+)

The Knowledge Base document is a core document for both Cranium and Synapse. Knowledge Base documents store chemical structures, physical property values, mixture compositions, estimation techniques, structural groups, elements and references.

Example Uses
  • Cranium uses these data to estimate the properties of new chemicals, evaluate estimation techniques, compile physical property values, regress equations and graphically display property values.
  • Synapse uses a Knowledge Base document as the source of data and estimation techniques for the design and selection of chemicals and mixtures.
Document Chapters

A Knowledge base document contains seven chapters. Each of these chapters can be accessed by clicking on its corresponding tab in the document's Tab Pane.

Chapter Description
Summary Chapter manages title, descriptions and other information about the Knowledge Base document
Chemicals Chapter manages identification, structure and physical properties of pure chemicals
Mixtures Chapter manages composition and physical properties of mixtures of two or more chemicals
Techniques Chapter manages model code, group contributions and parameters of estimation techniques used to predict physical property values
Groups Chapter manages the molecular structure of groups used in estimation techniques, chemical designs and constraints
Elements Chapter manages the atomic elements used to construct groups
References Chapter manages the details of references used through the document
