Chemical Functions Chapter
Applicability: Synapse

The Chemical Functions Chapter is found in chemical design and chemical selection documents. The chapter manages the code used by property constraints.

Chapter Sections

The chapter's datapane is divided into three sections:

Function Section contains one large field for displaying and editing the function's code.
General Notes Section used to store any general notes about the current function. Often a brief summary of the function's calculations and results is entered in this field.
Associated Documents Section used to store links to any documents associated with the current function.
Chapter Commands

The Chemical Functions chapter has commands for reporting and testing functions. These commands are available from the chapter's Commands menu.

  • Report Function Properties: activates the Report Properties Dialog that enables you to select properties and attributes to add to an open Report Document.
  • Test Chemical Function: activates the Test Chemical Function Dialog enabling you to run the function on a chemical selected from an open knowledge base. This command is extremely useful for ensuring your chemical functions are written correctly.
Common Commands

The menubar provides numerous other commands for navigation, bookmarking, file operations, units conversion, etc. See the documentation on Common Commands for details.
